Mark Zuckerberg has just announced that Hugo Barra, who is returning to Silicon Valley after nearly four years sting with Xiaomi will join Facebook to "lead all of our virtual reality efforts, including our Oculus team." Zuckerberg announced the news in his Facebook post along with a picture of he and Barra hanging out virtually as the latter is still in China. Barra will now fill the gap left by former Oculus CEO Brendan Iribe when he stepped down last December to focus on the company's PC efforts in December.
“Thanks, Mark! I can't wait to get started in building that future and join the team in a couple of months. It's been a dream of mine to work in virtual reality even back when AR/VR were just figments of science fiction; now we're taking selfies in virtual worlds”. Barra commented on the post.
