Google bids good bye to top touch of Home Mini

Home Mini, Google's smart speaker had to bid good bye to its top touch function as it was reported to activate on its own. The bug found in the top touch function allowed the Home mini to record random sounds and uploaded them to Google servers. Reported as serious breach of privacy and quality, Google has called off the feature from all future devices.

"We take user privacy and product quality concerns very seriously," a Google spokesperson said in a statement. "Although we only received a few reports of this issue, we want people to have complete peace of mind while using Google Home Mini."

With the new software upgrade the top touch function is non-functional and the voice command of "OK Google' will activate the device. The issue was brought to limelight by Android Police founder, Artem Russakovskii. He notified Google that his device was self-activated thousands of times in a day and transmitted recordings to Google servers.

You can now be peaceful with the Home Mini while the top touch functionality is disabled and you can do all the tasks of streaming music and controlling the smart home in similar capacity.
