Apple intends to use TSMC's most advanced chip technology in iPhones

The Nikkei Asia newspaper said on Wednesday that Apple Inc. (AAPL.O) intends to deploy an enhanced version of Taiwanese chipmaker TSMC's (2330. TW) most recent chip production technology in iPhones and Macbooks next year.

According to the source, which cited persons with knowledge of the situation, the A17 mobile processor, which is presently under development, would be mass-produced utilizing TSMC's N3E chipmaking technology and is anticipated to be ready in the second half of next year.

It further stated that the premium iPhone model scheduled for release in 2023 will employ the A17.

At the most recent Apple announcement event, the firm said the iPhone 14 Pro models would use the same A15 CPU chip as the current iPhone model. The chip manufacturer supplies businesses like Apple and Qualcomm Inc., controlling approximately 54% of the global market for chips made under contract (QCOM.O).
